Business or Happiness? Happiness! It’s what most of us strive for throughout our lives. Can you establish a business that increases your happiness at the same time? Is that possible?
Happiness is a personal concept or meaning based on their theory and pedagogy. Each person make perception of happiness in personal manner which may not be similar to others. It means pleasure and satisfaction with specific concepts differently and individually. You as a business person, startup founder or entrepreneur have to draw your imagination of happiness and its instances to your life and work. Your happiness in your life, work or business needs to conceptualize just by yourself, with no need to approve by others. You have to love what you do. It make you happy and infuse happiness in your business resulted in purposeful and meaningful business. Business or Happiness?
As Paul Campillo presents “No wonder phrases like “happiness at work”, “meaningful work”, and “purpose” are now making the rounds in the business world. Purpose has staying power. In fact, some would argue that purpose has always been at the heart of great work”. Once Albert Schweitzer said, “Happiness is the key to success.” Happiness in business starts with passion. By recognizing where your passion lies, you are ahead of everyone else who still tries to find their place under the sun. Be honest and real to yourself first, before you are truthful to the world.( Bruno (HE) Mirchevski).
Happiness is not just money for everyone! The examples of happiness are variant!
There are some examples of famous people who are economically successful and earned a lot of money but are not happy enough. It is very unfortunate because that some businesses are founded mostly on the vision of money instead of happiness.
Starting a business that increases your happiness will make you a better person!
As John Rampton, Entrepreneur and Connector in their post at ENTREPRENEUR pointed out “Work needs a goal and happiness is the one goal everyone agrees is worth working for”.
Those with a positive well-being and happiness concept in their work, are found to have a lower risk of heart disease, lower blood pressure and normal body weight. Being happy can strengthen the immune system and help you fight off everyday stressors.
Considering that we spend one third of our lives at work, happiness shouldn’t just be confined to just our personal lives. When people are happy at work they’re more engaged and productive, their morale is higher and they call-in sick to work less often. That’s definitely good for your bottom line.
Business or Happiness? Create your own happy job.
If you launch a startup or establish a business, build one that increases your happiness. I here also recommend you to read the book written in 2010 by Ted Leonsis (Author), John Buckley (Contributor) “The Business of Happiness: 6 Secrets to Extraordinary Success in Work and Life”. In The Business of Happiness, Ted Leonsis explain that success may or may not make you happy, but happiness will almost always make you much more successful. Ted also reveals the six secrets to achieving true happiness. Showing people exactly how they can apply the six secrets to their work, at home, and in their personal lives, Leonsis also reveals how some of the most successful and happy people today—Bono, Michael Jordan, Steve Case—have put these secrets into practice for themselves. Dynamic, inspiring, and unique.
If you start your own business you can create a business culture that fosters happiness among you and your team. How exactly can you start a business that will increase happiness? Well, here are seven areas to focus on.
Your happiness business model
Your happiness should be your business model.
The secret to building a successful company is to design your happiness business model and put your and your team’s happiness before profits.
There’s a new breed of entrepreneur choosing happiness before profits. But what’s remarkable is how, in making this choice, these companies are becoming highly profitable.
According to Laurence McCahill, in his article as “Make Happiness Your Business Model”Jun 19, 2013, By placing the happiness of their employees and customers first, they’ve created incredibly strong cultures and an even happier balance sheet. It’s vital to your startup’s progression.
In the paper written by Shubhomita Bose (2020) indicated that “81 Percent of small business owners say entrepreneurship makes them happy and optimism is high among business owners”.
Happy founders are the first essential component of happy startups. After all you’ll probably be devoting several years of your life and some long hours, so it’s vital that you’re into what you’re doing.
If you’re not, it will show – in your ability to motivate yourself and others, the quality of your service or product and the relationships you build with your customers. Christine Chartrand and Andrew McConnell suggested some keys to happiness and how you can infuse happiness in your business.
They discussed that the process is more important than the purpose. Sometimes working in a team room in joint problem solving left energized and inspired. To achieve business happiness, you must understand that happiness can be subjective, it can come in all shapes and sizes, and you have to put in an effort to measure and adapt happiness in order to keep your employees happy long-term. You will find that business happiness in one area can have a positive impact on others, and that it can predict performance. The most important keys are here:
1 – Happiness can be subjective
2 – Business Happiness predicts performance
3 – Business happiness affects the organization at all levels
4 – Happiness in the workplace is not always given, you must make the effort!
5- It means not forgetting about the little things.
6 – Business Happiness must be continuous
7 – Business happiness means thinking a little more positively
Finally, you must remember to focus on the good, and keep employees’ strengths in mind, too! Have you done all you can to achieve business happiness in your organization?
